Whichever Map shows up on top is the community in the lead. On May 10th Penticton is going to get moving as a group as we walk on a virtual map across Canada. Last year we made it to Newfoundland and halfway back through Ontario. A special Move For Health Day challenge has just been issued by the small community of Armstrong, BC. Last year it was Penticton vs. Burnaby (David vs. Goliath) now Armstrong is taking on Penticton and hoping to create a “Goliath” victory of their own. Momentum is on Armstrong’s side as they began their program this fall and with 300 steppers and a population of only 4,500. They already have 255 million steps logged in! Steps from StepsOut.com will automatically be recorded. Any activities done during the week to celebrate Move For Health Day count, and the cut off is noon monday. Penticton: The May 10th Move for Health Day Activity Schedule which outlines the 18 free activities is available at the Penticton Community Centre and online at www.getactivepenticton.com Free activities are being offered such as swimming, drop-in gym times and various fitness classes throughout the community. Anyone getting active on Saturday can phone in (490-2392) or log in on line at www.getactivepenticton.com so their activities can be translated in to steps on the “Cross Canada” map. See our city’s progress across Canada throughout the day and let’s beat last years record of 16 million steps. For more information contact the community centre at 490-2426.
