Motivational Testimonials Campaign -- Mon, June 5th to Tue, July 4th

*** CAMPAIGN EXTENDED TO TUESDY, JULY 11th ***

History – The Penticton Steps Out program started on October 2nd, 2004 in the community of Penticton. In just two months, over 400 participants were logging close to one million steps a day. In May of 2005, the program received the British Columbia Parks Program, Excellence Award for the Idea of the Year. In October of 2005 the program received the Canadian Parks and Recreation Award of Excellence for Innovation. Now, less than two years later, the Steps Out Program is being implemented in a dozen communities (not all activities) within British Columbia. Oak Bay, Kelowna and Trail are currently taking steps to initiate a “Steps Out” program in the fall. Still other communities are requesting information on how to start a successful and rewarding “Steps Out” program.

Inspiration – The Penticton Steps Out Team has been working to put together an information package to share with other communities about our program. We are in the beginning stages of development. However, one piece of the package that is currently lacking (and that would serve as a source of inspiration for other people and communities) is feedback from you, the participants in the Penticton Steps Out program. We want to share your success stories with other communities to help them build equally successful “Steps Out” programs.

Action – Take a few minutes to write to the Penticton Steps Out Team to let us know how Penticton Steps Out has affected your life, health, self-esteem, family or other facet of your life. You can reach us at bob.pope@penticton.ca . We will add some of the inspirational, heart warming and fun testimonials to our information package. It is our intention to share this information package with other potential “Steps Out” communities.

Rewards – If the health benefits of participating in Penticton Steps Out are not reward enough, the Penticton Steps Out Team will be making random draws from all testimonials received during the Motivational Testimonials Campaign. Two winners will receive $25 gift certificates from our Shop Smart sponsor – Save on Foods.

Get hopping and submit your stepping testimonials.
