Valley Wide Hike- Penticton Adra Tunnel Trek

Hike Details: 5 hours, Easy Rating

Location: Penticton Recreation Centre, 325 Power Street

Time: 8:30am

Fee: FREE but *must register at www.lakecountryoutdoorsclub.com or

Valley Wide Hike- West Kelowna- Kalamoir Regional Park

Hike Details: 1.5 hours, Moderate Rating

Location: Kalamoir Regional Park, Sunnyside Road

Time: 10:00am

Fee: FREE but *must register at www.lakecountryoutdoorsclub.com or

3. Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Event: Beach Yoga & Walk

Time: 8:00am – 10:30am +

Event Details: 30 minute pre-walk Yoga warm-up at Rotary Beach.  Walk along the beach pathway and a portion of Centennial Trail.   One-hour Yoga class after walk at Rotary Beach.

Meeting Location: Rotary Beach

Fee: $5 for Summerland Steps Out, $10 for non-members

Picnic to follow afterwards- bring a healthy snack!

*Remember to bring water, a mat or towel to lie on.

*Must register at least one week in advance

 

4. Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Event: Free Pole Walking Clinic

Time: 11am – 12 noon

Location: Summerland Aquatic Centre

*Walking Poles Provided

 

5. Sunday, September 19th, 2010 Valley Wide Hike

Valley Wide Hike: Lake Country- Spion Kop

Hike Details: 3-4 hours, Moderate to Difficult Rating

Location: Tim Hortons in Lake Country, Lakewood Mall

Time: 10:00am

6. Sunday, September 26th, 2010 Valley Wide Hike

Hike: Summerland- Lakeshore Loop

Hike Details: Lakeshore Loop, 2 hrs, Moderate Rating

Meeting Location: Peach Orchard Beach Spirit Square, Gazebo

Time: 9am – 11am

Fee: FREE for Summerland Steps Out, $5 for non-members

Hike: KVR- Trans Canada Trail Hike

Meeting Location: KVR Station, 2 hours, Easy Rating
Time: 1:00 – 3:00pm

8. Saturday, October 16th, 2010 Valley Wide Hike

Valley Wide Hike: Vernon- Cougar Canyon

Hike Details: 2-3 hours, Moderate Rating

Location: Tim Hortons on Hwy 6 across from Polson Park

Time: 10:00am

Hiking the Okanagan Valley with STEPS OUT

The Steps Out program is now province wide, but the Okanagan Valley has always worked together and has taken it one STEP further by offering a guided hike in each community. Take advantage of this great opportunity to meet new people, discover hidden secrets of each community and expand your list of hikes to conquer.

 

All hikes listed below are also on the Lake Country Outdoors Club website www.lakecountryoutdoorsclub.com where you will find more details and photos for each hike. Hikes will be guided by a local person from each host community.

 

All Hikes are FREE - but registration is required on the outdoors club website or
with each community office.

Take in the autumn colours and views of Okanagan Lake on this scenic walk that follows country roads from Peach Orchard Beach along to historic “Storehouse Point” From this point the trail heads west up onto a bench, through orchards and vineyards and eventually winds back down to the waterfront.

with your own pedometer to make it fun and easy.


What is "Summerland Steps Out"?
Summerland Steps Out is a walking/pedometer program with a focus on

physical activity and healthy living. This initiative is led by the dedicated

staff of the Summerland Recreation Department. Join the team as we inspire,

assess and empower you to take positive steps to better health and wellness.

We will monitor your progress and give you helpful advice on healthy living.
